This is normally based on how close you are to your due date — being 1 cm dilated at 28 weeks is very different than being 1 cm dilated at 40 weeks. Cerclage worked, and I had it removed at 37 weeks, and immediately dilated to 3cm--still didn't feel anything. That was a Monday, and by Friday I was 5cm, and I still didn't feel a thing. You will likely know when. But you will most likely have a very fast delivery so be prepared for it. You can go from 1-100 quickly.
