When I launch the skiff, it won’t slide into the water unless I have backed the trailer down far into the water. I then have to get into the water and pick the bow of the skiff up and off the roller. When I return from fishing, I also have to get into the water to pick the bow up and then rest it back on the roller.When launching, the boat will float off when there is enough buoyancy to lift it off the bunks (only part of trailer supporting weight). But what the bow does depends on how much of the buoyancy is helping out at the bow. If there isn't enough, the bow is going to want to drop further as the boat comes off.Senior Member.
