SIG's 2012 catalogue states (paraphrase) "smaller grip included" with gun. This would lead one to believe that the higher the number, the smaller the grip. Hmmm. Usually guns become discontinued because they don't sell well, or have a repeated issue (s) malfunctioning. I don't recall the last time (if ever) my P239 in 9 malfunctioned. I could see however that it may not be selling well against some of the other offerings they are selling currently.
