The control box warning buzzer will tell you if a fault is logged via a series of beeps.It start quickly and work well. Then it begin to be a little erratic at idle, but still ok. It run very well above 2000 rpms, but if you stay between 1000 and 2000 for a while it begin to loose power and stall. I changed the IAC valve but the problem persist. Could it be the MAP or TPS.At the bottom of the tank is a drain. Drain the vst tank. Refill with fresh fuel via the primer bulb, drain and repeat until the fuel runs clear. Get some of Mercury's Quickleen add to the fuel tank following label directions. Then mix some Quickleen and fuel at a 1part Quickleen to 4 parts fuel mixture put this in the VST tank.

Disconect the fuel line between the tank and bulb and blow air in the line and see if you can hear, or see, the air bubbles in the tank with the fill cap removed. At wide open throttle gravity has the float in it's lowest position, needle valve open the widest, and the least amount of fuel in the carb bowl. Something is wrong.

If you had to replace one part it would be this. It is part 881070 for about $69.00. It is located on top of the throttle body and fairly easy to replace. Otherwise, I would have to advise you to have an experienced and certified Mercury tech check over the motor with his test equipment. Kenny.
