I haven't needed to lock the diff in the 4yrs I owner the Rav4. 🤷 It's really about slow acceleration, driving for the conditions (slower), and keeping enough stopping distance in the snow. Hybrid (or even Eco mode for the gas models) let's you control acceleration better so you don't step on it too fast from a dead stop.

Help, RAV4 for car camping!? We’re a young couple with two dogs (50lbs each) that loves camping and exploring. We’re trying to make a decision between a RAV4 Hybrid AWD or 4Runner SR5 4WD. Use case would be exploring forest roads, dispersed camping in BLM or Forest Service land.

From my point of view, the "equivalent" technology packages will bring the total price of the XLE Premium up to $40100 and the XSE $41200 (so roughly a $1000 difference). In my head, the XSE has a nicer interior, the panoramic view would be amazing to have, but TBH I don't care at all about the panoramic sunroof.
Nothings changed for the 22 model as far as sound deadening goes. It’s a fairly noisy cabin with a fairly noisy engine. Like people have stated before you need to step up to the Venza or a Lexus to have a quieter ride. If you’re coming from a five or 10 year old vehicle it’s going to be pretty quiet to you. [deleted]
Bins of food and gear go on the floor behind the front seats, rear seats fold down for sleeping, packs go on the driver’s seat, cooler goes in the passenger seat, and boots and camp chairs sit under the vehicle or on the passenger seat’s floor. If you folded down the back seats and put a mattress down it might work.Same free 5k service @ 15k miles and same 10k free service @ 20k. Some people like to get an oil or filter change after the first 1000 miles to be extra safe and get any break in metal particles and assembly lube out of the engine. Toyota recommends yearly or 10,000 mile oil and filter changes. The hybrids may be different.This give the prime a 2500 lbs tow capacity (in US) vs a 1750 lbs on the Hybrid. The CX5 was a close second, but the harsher ride and the lack of lane pushed us to the RAV4. On the CRV, it just looks too odd and the interior just felt too hectic. YMMV, the 8-speed transmission in the Rav4 is not very smooth. The RAV4’s suspension is definitely more rigid but tbh I don’t really notice it as much as I thought I would coming from the Camry. A base or mid-range model RAV4 is perfectly reasonable and competitive in the marketplace. You pay a premium for them used.
