Soualigia Lounge at SXM airport. This was a great way to spend time before our flight. This lounge was in the US Airways terminal at Princess Julianna airport. For 20.00 each, you get a comfortable setting, free snacks, soft drinks and wine - newspapers, and free wifi. Very quiet and comfortable.

I am sure they do random checks and if they have reason to suspect drugs or weapons, but they don't really care if you bring in a pair of NIkes for a friend on the island. It has big condo buildings yet feels empty and struggling. Mainly, I guess, the beach is not great so no one visits from elsewhere and most people staying there head out each day. To be fair, the beach might rate a 6 or 7, but St Martin has so many 10 point beaches of different flavors that it suffers by comparison.As far as calling to SXM, Verizon charges .50 a minute from US. All incomming calls to SXM from US to a local rental cell phone are free to the receiver. Verizon only works on the Durtch side and runs around 1.29 a min. I contacted them, and as I remember it was $185 per person so I tossed the idea aside quickly. Perhaps useful if you are transferring through to St Barths on a tight connection, but otherwise ... Anguilla is overwhelmingly the better of the two locations but it's fun to explore new places and try new things. We stayed in SXM for the last days of our vacation and I don't regret it.
