For one thing, I am queer and thought I was completely above any type of hereto-normative thinking or ideas of gender norms for either sex. I also grew up heavily into the punk rock scene. On MensLib especially, the fact men's issues deserve discussion should just be self evident. We shouldn't need to couch everything in terms of women's experiences (whether real or imagined) to feel like our discussion is legitimate. A double standard where men as the default winners have more to lose and women have more to gain. If a man loses, he's pathetic and his manhood is in question; if a woman is incompetent, she's laughable but still has other culturally acceptable avenues for identity ("she should get back to being a wife.")
