The Air 2 series gets more storage 64 gb and 4 gb RAM (up from 32 gb and 3 gb on the Air 1). It also has a slightly faster processor. So in all the performance is smoother. For reading and note taking with the notepad the boox is hands down the far superior device. I have to read lots of academic papers in various degrees of pdf quality, scan type and text type. There is absolutely no problem with those on my note air. I can get my texts onto the note air directly via the moodle app, that works well.
