However, if you are in Neutral, and the clutch is spinning fast enough to engage it, then yes it will turn the belt. Ideally, the belt should NOT be turning at idle. If it IS, the clutch is not fully disengaging.

jd772. may have to remove a wheel to check voltage when you unplug connector from solenoid. also check the grounds. check to make sure brake switch is operating .it is tied in to wire circuit. and throttle switch. it should indicate on dash the 4x4 ,also may hear the solenoid with engine off and switch activated.

According to him, there is a fix coming out for the drive clutches on the 825i that will either be a clutch/belt replacement or a rework of the clutch. As for the 550 clutch, it seems the last fix is working.
