Any disk under 3TB is drop-and-go, the tivo will self-format and install the OS for you. Just went through this, replaced drive, no change, took the Weaknees approach, but stopped. In the normal course of use, no Tivos are designed to lose power and there is virtually no benefit to turning off power to the units. Doing this as a matter of course might actually cause premature ...I realise this is likely 3 months too late, but for others who have these exact problems (green LED and 'give me disks' message with no drives, but blinking blue LED with ANY disk added), the solution that worked for me was to replace the power supply. Got a 3rd party power supply and my 918+ started right up. skelly890.
